One of the marquee provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act increased the federal estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax exemptions to an all-time high. However, these historically high exemptions are scheduled to be significantly cut on 1/1/2026, meaning there is a deadline for clients to leverage them in their estate planning.
