DENVER (May 27, 2021) – The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) announced today that seasoned journalist Danielle Andrus has been named editor of the Journal of Financial Planning and will officially assume her new post on Tuesday, June 1.
Andrus comes to FPA with an outstanding track record in journalism and, specifically, financial services trade media. Over the past 15 years, she has worked in various capacities, including writing and editing. Andrus has worked for several notable publications and outlets and spent more than seven years as the executive managing editor at ALM Media, publisher of Investment Advisor magazine and ThinkAdvisor.com. Before that, she was online editor for Summit Professional Networks, where she oversaw newsletter development for four magazines, including Benefits Selling, Senior Market Advisor, Boomer Market Advisor, and Bank Advisor.
“For 42 years, the Journal of Financial Planning has been a leader in building the base of professional knowledge in the financial planning profession. And today, we have an excellent new editor to lead our FPA Publications Team and oversee the Journal, our flagship publication,” says Patrick D. Mahoney, FPA chief executive officer. “Danielle brings a terrific combination of deep financial services knowledge and extensive journalism experience to this important role, and I am looking forward to seeing her impact on the Journal’s – and FPA’s – future.”
Last year, the Journal transitioned to a digital environment, which will now be maximized with Andrus’s oversight due to her knowledge and experience of publishing content for digital delivery. FPA will now be able to consider new approaches that will make the Journal’s content more accessible to FPA members and the broader financial planning community.
“I'm excited to join this talented team, and to help the Financial Planning Association act on new opportunities to serve its members through these time-honored publications. Financial planners play a critical role in helping their clients achieve financial security and freedom, and I'm honored to serve them,” says Danielle Andrus, new editor of the Journal of Financial Planning.
As editor, Andrus will lead the FPA Publications Team in vision, strategic direction, and publication excellence. She will oversee content development for FPA’s publications, including the Journal of Financial Planning, the FPA Practice Management Blog, and the FPA Next Generation Planner.
A 2005 graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz, Andrus is currently completing a Master’s degree in organizational leadership from Regis University.
