The FPA of Silicon Valley and its members provide free, no-strings-attached financial advice and planning to help underserved populations in Silicon Valley and its surrounding communities change their tomorrows. In partnership with community organizations, the FPA of Silicon Valley conducts the following pro bono activities:
- Digital Programming: During the COVID-19 pandemic, FPA volunteers are conducting virtual presentations on the current state of the economy and exploring opportunities with partners to deliver pro bono financial planning advice in a virtual environment. For example, virtual coaching has been established to help survivors of domestic violence get access to pro bono financial planning advice.
- Financial Education Library Programs: In partnership with local libraries, the FPA of Silicon Valley hosts Financial Planning Days and workshops throughout the year.
- High School Education Program: A staple of the FPA of Silicon Valley's pro bono programming, FPA members educate students on basic finance concepts as part of a Living Skills class at Gunn High School in Palo Alto, Calif.
- City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department: FPA of Silicon Valley members presented the Aging Masterfully program prior to COVID-19 shelter in place orders, and will re-instate the program once these orders lift.
