Spring 2025 FPA Residency Program Dean
Jon Yankee, MBA, CFP® is Partner and Market Leader in the Virginia office for Cerity Partners. He is also a member of the firm’s National Partner Development Committee. Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Jon co-founded FJY Financial in 2006. In addition to his duties as a Partner and Senior Financial Advisor, as Chief Executive Officer he led the firm’s strategic direction and the development and implementation of its well-known human capital strategy. Jon also previously served as a Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch. Additionally, he worked for five years in Honolulu, HI as a Program Manager for the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), an organization of chief executives that fosters and promotes the development of trade and trade policy throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Mentors
Elissa Buie, CFP® entered the financial planning profession in 1983 and is co-founder and CEO of Yeske Buie Inc. She is a past Chair of the Foundation for Financial Planning and of FPA and a former Dean of the Residency Program. In 2013 Buie received the prestigious P. Kemp Fain, Jr. Award, the financial planning profession's equivalent of a lifetime achievement award. She has served in many volunteer capacities with FPA and has been published multiple times in The Journal of Financial Planning. She earned an MBA from the University of Maryland and a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia. Buie was named to Investment News' inaugural "Women to Watch" list, recognized to the inaugural Financial Times Top 100 Women Financial Advisers list, featured as a top adviser by Worth and Washingtonian and Bloomberg Wealth Manager, and selected as a recipient of Alexandra Armstrong Lifetime Achievement Award as part of InvestmentNews' Women to Watch initiative. She holds an appointment as a distinguished adjunct professor at Golden Gate University.
Rich Busillo, CFP®, AIF®, RPA is retired Chairman & CEO of RTD Financial, a Philadelphia-based Registered Investment Advisory firm, providing Personal Wealth Management, Employer Retirement Plans, and Institutional Investment Management services. With over four decades of experience as a personal financial planner and holding designations including CFP®, AIF®, and RPA, Richard remains actively engaged in mentoring the next generation of financial planners.
Kelly McNerney, CFP® is a Principal in the Virginia office for Cerity Partners. Prior to joining Cerity Partners, Kelly served as a Financial Advisor at FJY Financial. She initially joined FJY as an Associate Financial Advisor and served on both the firm’s Investment Committee and Financial Planning Committee. As a chair of FJY’s investment committee, Kelly performed research related to investment objectives and contributed towards the firm’s investment decision-making process and due diligence. Her role on the Financial Planning Committee focused on furthering the knowledge of the firm’s Financial Advisors and staying abreast of the issues that their clients were facing. Kelly also managed FJY’s internship program and was responsible for recruiting, training, and mentoring two students every summer. Kelly most recently graduated from Leadership Fairfax’s Emerging Leaders Institute.
Lauren Stansell, CFP® earned an honors B.S. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech in May 2012. She earned her second honors bachelor’s degree in Finance, summa cum laude, from Virginia Tech’s CFP® Certification Education Track, a CFP Board-Registered program, in December 2012. Lauren passed the CFP® exam in July 2014 and became a CFP® professional in February 2015. Lauren earned her Master’s in Advanced Financial Planning with a concentration in Taxation through Golden Gate University in 2019. Lauren co-founded the FPA Student Chapter at Virginia Tech and was the organization's first president. In the first year of its existence, the chapter grew to over 70 students, making it the largest student chapter in the country. Lauren also served as the 2021 President and 2022 Chair of the FPA of San Francisco.
Fall 2025 FPA Residency Program Dean
Dr. Dave Yeske, CFP® holds a doctorate in finance from Golden Gate University, as well as an MA in Economics and a BS in applied economics from the University of San Francisco. He has been practicing financial planning since 1990. Yeske is a past chair of the Financial Planning Association and is a former practitioner editor of the Journal of Financial Planning. He previously chaired the FPA PAC, Research Center Team, and Academic Advisory Council. He is also a long-time mentor and now dean for the FPA Residency Program. Yeske received the FPA Heart of Financial Planning award in 2012, and the P. Kemp Fain, Jr. Award in 2017. He holds an appointment as a distinguished adjunct professor in Golden Gate University's Ageno School of Business, where he has taught for over 20 years and served as the director of the University's financial planning program, home of the first-ever MS in Financial Planning degree.
