DENVER (July 31, 2024) — The Financial Planning Association® (FPA®), the leading membership organization and trade association for Certified Financial Planner™ professionals, is pleased to announce Carol Anderson, M.S., as the recipient of the Association’s and profession’s highest individual award – the 2024 P. In honor of the late P. Kemp Fain, Jr., CFP®, this pinnacle of recognition is bestowed on an individual who has made significant contributions to the advancement of the financial planning profession. The Award is presented to an individual who has realized outstanding achievements in service to society, academia, government, and professional activities.

“The P. Kemp Fain, Jr., Award provides a special time each year to recognize someone who has had a deep impact on the financial planning profession, and few people have had as much of an impact as Carol Anderson. Carol’s research and programs have been a catalyst in the development of financial planners for nearly four decades and will prove to be instrumental in the development of future generations of financial planners,” said 2024 FPA President Claudia Kane, CFP®. “The work Carol has done over the years has enabled financial planners to better understand the emotional and behavioral aspects of money while providing an important foundation for establishing stronger relationships with clients. I look forward to celebrating Carol when we gather for FPA Annual Conference in Columbus this September.”

This research has been cited numerous times in the current CFP® curriculum and other publications. In 2021, Anderson led research and co-authored another critical whitepaper revealing the never-before-studied effects of national and global events on client-planner relationships titled “Developing & Maintaining Client Relationships in a Rapidly Changing Environment.”

In addition to her numerous contributions, Anderson applied her research findings to developing client discovery tools and the “MQ True Wealth Planning” model, a research-based delivery model for financial planning that assists financial planners in addressing the practical and emotional aspects of client relationships with money.
