Pittsburgh-based financial planner to lead the Financial Planning Association for the next 12 months
DENVER (January 6, 2025) – With a passion for advocating for the financial planning profession, Paul J. Brahim, CFP®, CEPA®, officially became the 2025 President of the Financial Planning Association® (FPA®) effective January 1. Brahim will collaborate with other national volunteer leaders and the Association’s CEO to advance FPA’s strategic priorities throughout 2025 during the Association’s 25th anniversary.
In 2025, Brahim is focused on raising the stature of financial planning to be on par with professions like medicine, law, and theology, which he sees as critical for society. This focus aligns with the Association’s primary organizational objective of advancing financial planners’ legal and regulatory recognition (title protection), which FPA announced in July 2022.
“FPA leaders firmly planted the stake in the ground, without reservation, that financial planners deserve legal and regulatory protection to distinguish them from other financial professionals,” says 2025 FPA President Paul Brahim, CFP®, CEPA®. “This involves advocating for regulations that clarify the standard of care and professional expectations for financial planners. This is a long-term advocacy priority, which will take several years to come to fruition. We look forward to advancing on this objective throughout the year.”
Besides serving on the FPA Board of Directors for the past three years, including as president-elect in 2024, Brahim has been a member of FPA for many years and has served in various capacities on the Board of Directors of the FPA of Pittsburgh.
In addition to his work with FPA, Brahim is very active in his community. He has served as a prior board member with the Heritage Community Initiative and volunteered with the Navy Seal Foundation. He has also been an expert witness for various legal cases and a Vistage Chief Executive member since 2014.
Professionally, Brahim is a managing director and financial adviser with Wealth Enhancement Group in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he uses his financial planning, investment management, and business skills to advise CEOs on their retirement and succession plans. He also provides guidance on employee retirement and financial wellness programs. Brahim is a Certified Financial Planner® professional and earned the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) designation from the Exit Planning Institute.
“With FPA's long-term strategic plan launch last year, FPA volunteer leaders and professional staff will focus on initiatives that grow the Association’s membership and attract new talent. At the same time, we want to help members evolve from individual practitioners to successful business owners, advance on critical financial wellness programs, and make financial planning an aspirational career choice for the next generation,” added Brahim.
Journalists interested in reading more about Brahim and his thoughts on the financial planning profession can access a feature interview in the January 2025 Journal of Financial Planning issue.
