It is easy to become overwhelmed with the number of data breaches that continue to dominate the news and wondering how we can possibly protect ourselves. If large organizations cannot prevent a breach, how can a smaller company possibly prevent one. However, with each breach we can learn and understand how they happened and no matter the size of a company, some simple affordable measures can be deployed to reduce the likelihood of a cyber event. Additionally, as most applications have become cloud-based and no longer on premise nor owned by the company, it has become a new challenge to secure this data. . This session will review how some common breaches happen, consequences as a result and steps participants can put in place to better protect their organization, including ways to protect and limit access to your cloud-based applications. Learning objectives include:
- Participants will be able to understand how a security incident can happen and ramifications of such an event.
- Participants will learn how to identify cybersecurity gaps within their organization and some lessons learned from an SEC cybersecurity audit.
- Participants will have actionable items on how they can best protect.
