8:10 AM - 9:00 AM: Diversifying Beyond Mega Cap Tech (1 CE)

Salvatore Ruscitti, U.S. Equities Strategist - MRB Partners

Year-to-date gains in the S&P 500 have been fueled by rising earnings, resilient economic growth, and relentless upside in the A.I. trade. However, mounting risks associated with extreme market concentration and high valuations at the top-end of the equity market suggest that index performance will be choppier in the rest of the year. This presentation will focus on the U.S. equity market outlook and how investors should position equity portfolios in the next 6-12 months. Learning objectives include: a) What is the outlook for the U.S. economy and corporate earnings; b) What are key macro indicators signaling about how investors should position portfolios?; c) Where are the best diversification opportunities beyond mega-cap tech stocks?; and d) How will the U.S. elections impact the performance of select sectors/industry groups?

9:10 AM - 10:00 AM: The Current State of the Fixed Income Market (1 CE)

Hozef Arif - Avantis Investors

In this presentation, we look to understand determinants of interest rates, economic outlook, and Fed policy as it affects the U.S. bond market. We also look at what is currently priced into bond yield curves across fixed income sectors, and examine how that translates to expected returns. Learning objectives include: a) Advisors will have a better understanding of how current economic conditions impact interest rates as well as economic outlook; b) How this is tied into Fed policy, and how actions from the Fed affect the U.S. bond market; c) We will examine how those expectations and information is priced into bond yield curves, and ultimately how those yield curves can be used by investors when considering expected return.

10:00 AM - 10:10 AM: Break
10:10 AM - 11:00 AM: The Fundamentals of Private Real Estate Investments (1 CE)

Blake Lugash - Realty Capital Partners

This presentation will explain how to analyze a real estate investment, whether it is a single property or a portfolio of properties. The property investment analysis can be broken down into three basic parts: 1) The business analysis of a property. This includes factors such as the property capital stack, regulations/zoning, financial/tax incentives, project costs, location, project concept/business plan, and customer analysis. 2) Property financial analysis. Blake will touch on such concepts as net operating income, capitalization rates, equity multiples, and basic property assumptions. 3) Operating analysis of the property. This considers some of the factors that make the "business" of the property successful, including a detailed analysis of the property sponsor, their reputation, project experience, and the ability to execute the multitude of details.

11:00 AM - 11:10 AM: Break
11:10 AM - 12:00 PM: The Value in Real Estate Note Investing (1 CE)

Mike Hanna - REI Capital Fund I, LLC

This session will cover what private lending is for real estate investors, why it is used, and the lifecycle of a loan. This will be followed by defining real estate note investing, discussing the benefits, risks and the value that can be offered to clients as an alternative investment vehicle, along with due diligence process considerations. Learning objectives include: a) How real estate notes are created and why they are used; b) The value in real estate note investing; c) The definition, benefits, and risks of participating in 506(c) debt funds that are used in the private lending space.

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Break/Lunch
1:00 PM - 1:50 PM: Active vs Passive Management: The Strategic Pursuit of Investment Excellence (1 CE)

Jennifer Hutchins, CFA - Avantax

In this session learn about “Persistency Studies,” a process that leverages data analytics to identify asset classes that have higher and lower degrees of efficiency to aid in portfolio construction. It shifts the focus from active versus passive management debate to identifying where each strategy excels. This strategic approach allocates resources to active managers in assets classes that are easier to outperform and utilizes passive management where outperformance of a strategic benchmark proves elusive. Learning objectives include: a) Understanding of how to compare large time frames and data to help highlight asset classes where asset managers have an ability to outperform to assist in the decision of portfolio construction; b) Process for using data and analytics to help determine an optimal mix of active vs passive management for any asset class; c) Understand the resources available to advisors to aid in developing persistency studies.
